GONIOPHOTOMETRIC
MEASUREMENTS
YFU, can make
goniophotometric measurements in its photometry
laboratory, according to the international standards with the third self developed and
manufactured goniophotometer. YFU has started
goniophotometric measurements with a self designed mechanical instrument in 1988. Later YFU developed its goniophotometer design to obtain a third one in
1998, which has two motorized axes and fully computer controlled. Once a luminaire is
mounted on it, and the necessary adjustments are made and the necessary data is given, the
measurement is automatically carried out from beginning to the end. The computer software
for the goniophotometer is also self-programmed and has many facilities.
Technical characteristics of this new goniophotometer is given below :
- Computer controlled rotation in both axis
- 0.05 degrees accuracy in horizontal movement
- 0.1 degrees accuracy for plane movement
- In both axis, the angular movement is controlled with encoders and fed
back to make sure that the correct angle is reached
- Special programmed software, which enables measurements according to
standards, with flexible adjustment parameters
- Possibility to measure down to 0.001 lux thanks to special design to
prevent scattered light
- Automatic determination of measurement angle limits by the software to
provide quick measurement
- Luminaires having the longest dimension up to 160 cm can be measured
With this goniophotometer named as GONFU-302 by YFU,
it is possible to measure distribution of luminous intensity and to
obtain graphical and table printouts. If asked, tables can be given as Excel files and/or
in Eulumdat format in electronic media. Using this data it is possible to make
illumination calculations and also to prepare plug-in data for computer programs like
DIAL.
The report prepared by YFU for these
measurements include the following information :
- Graphical expression of distribution of luminous intensity in polar
coordinates
- Graphical expression of distribution of luminous intensity in Cartesian
coordinates
- Numerical value of half-peak-angle and its graphical expression in both
polar and Cartesian coordinates
- Numerical value of 1/10 angle
- Numerical value of maximum light intensity of the luminaire and its
direction (angle and plane)
- Table for distribution of luminous intensity
- Light output ratio of the luminaire (calculated from the measurement
results)
- Table to give the illumination level, minimum, mean and maximum
illumination level, diameter and area of half-peak-angle at different elevations,
as a function of distance from the center, for full-symmetric luminaires and graphic for
illumination level.
